ARTIST TALK: Isabel Rocamora "Imaging Faith"

To mark the end of her residency at Stills, Artist filmmaker Isabel Rocamora will be introducing her new project Faith. Filmed in the Judean desert, across Israel and Palestinian Territories, Faith intimately observes the act of worship of the three monotheistic religions in Jerusalem (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Questioning segregation while celebrating difference, Faith invites reflection on one of the most tragic, world resonating conflicts that persist in this new century. Showing stills as well as extracts from the film, Isabel will offer insight into her artistic practice, closely discussing her working process from themes, through cinematography to directorial approach.

Awarded internationally, Rocamora's moving image work can be seen in museums and filmothèques worldwide. Exhibitions include the Centre for Contemporary Culture Strozzina, Florence; the National Museum of Photography, Copenhagen; the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Israel; and the Bologna Museum of Modern Art. Isabel teaches film at Edinburgh University and Screen Academy Scotland.

Following its exhibitions at Galeria SENDA (Barcelona) and the Koffler Gallery (Toronto), Faith will have its Scottish Premiere at Summerhall Galleries in 25 May - 13 July 2016.

A project produced by the Isabel Rocamora Studio, co-produced by Galila’s Collection, Brussels and the Koffler Gallery, Toronto (with the support of Chad and Lisa Wolfond). Partnering with Galeria SENDA. Stills produced during a residency at Stills Gallery, Edinburgh. Funded by Creative Scotland.
