Join us on the 'Edinburgh's Doors Open Day' weekend for tours of the gallery and building.

In 1997 the building underwent extensive refurbishment in order to provide better exhibition, production facilities and working space, carried out by the Edinburgh based architectural firm Reiach and Hall. On the tours we will talk you through the current exhibition, take you into the darkrooms to have a look at where traditional photographs are produced and show you the digital facilties where local and international artists create their masterpieces!

Tours of the building on Saturday and Sunday starting on the hour, every hour between 11am & 4pm. There is no need to book for the tours - just turn up the day at either 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm or 4pm.

Animation taster workshop
In addition to the tours there will be an animation workshop, using a simple stop-frame method that can be undertaken by all ages!

The workshop will start at 11am on Saturday and Sunday so choose what day you want to attend and call/email to book your place(s). These will go fast and places will be aoolcated on a first come, first serve basis.

Places are limited so please email or phone 0131 622 6200 to book your place.

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free annual architectural event. It is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days along side Scottish Archaeology Month, coordinated by Archaeology Scotland (formerly known as the Council for Scottish Archaeology). Both are supported by Historic Scotland. Area coordinators create and manage local programmes and work for a variety of local authorities, civic trusts and heritage organisations.
