AiR 2015 – Valentina Leonelli
Valentina Leonelli is a visual artist who works across a range of disciplines including photography, video and installation to investigate the human being, his life inside the society, and his controversial relation with nature and technology.
Leonelli’s recent practice is based on research around the power of an image in the current era. Through her work she explores the collective imagination to investigate the world using a range of mediums. Her interest is based around the idea of hyper-reality, and creating many different visions of the world; a typical contemporary mechanism.
During her residency, she will develop a project using Scottish postcards – an object that historically was once a very important tool for communication.
The postcard is a simple object that represents the iconic image of a place, and the idea that we have about the place. The work will use these as a starting point to create new personal postcards.
