Do you want to try your hand at a new skill whilst connecting with other people online? This course teaches you the craft and lo-fi skills required to make black and white ‘contact’ prints at home, in an accessible and environmentally friendly way!
Utilizing a mixture of creativity, (guided) Do It Yourself spirit, and some of the science of photography, you will learn the basics of black and white printing as well as discovering some experimental and alternative printing techniques.
The course will begin by discussing how to find and modify a suitable place within your home/office in order to make a darkroom, and what you will need to do this. You will then learn how to make your own environmentally-friendly developer and discover the magic of photographic printmaking – all with everyday household items!
The course will cover:
- Discussion and guidance on setting up a dark-space accessible to you
- Basics of Black & White ‘contact’ printing
- Creating eco-friendly developer from common household ingredients
- Cliché verre’s
*Please note: Black and White photographic paper will need to be purchased for the course. This can be bought from Stills or we can suggest various online retailers.*
