In 2018, Davy Zyw was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, an incurable degenerative illness which strips you of the nerve cells that control your motor function. 50% of people with MND die within two years of diagnosis.
Four years on from his diagnosis, Davy decided to ride the ‘High 5’, taking on five of the UK’s highest roads in one single ride. Sharing the road with his two brothers and a few close friends, Zyw undertook the 260-mile ride across the Scottish highlands to prove everyone wrong. ‘DAVY’, the new film by photographer and director Robbie Lawrence (another close friend of Zyw’s), follows the ride.
We are delighted to have Lawrence back at Stills after his exhibition ‘Northern Diary’ at Stills last year for a screening of ‘DAVY’, followed by a live Q&A between Lawrence and Zyw. There will be prints and posters available for sale, with all proceeds going to MND charities.
Tickets are free but limited, please book via Eventbrite here.
“Whilst the dexterity and details of life are beginning to escape me, cycling has been different… I’m still full of life, full of fire and capable of something amazing.” – Davy Zyw
