Stills’ Exhibition Posters
Exhibition runs until 15 June 2024
Ahead of our 50th anniversary, we are presenting this rare opportunity to view 45 posters from our archive. These illustrate the vast range of exhibitions that have been hosted by Stills since 1977.
The founders of Stills (formerly called the Scottish Photography Group) presented their first exhibition, ‘Recent American Still Photography’ at the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh in 1976. Stills opened its first gallery at 58 High Street in 1977 before moving to 106 High Street and then to 23 Cockburn Street in 1996.
From solo exhibitions to curated projects and touring exhibitions, these posters tell a story about the changing shape of photography over the last 5 decades and Stills’ key position as one of the longest-running public photography galleries in the UK.
More information about our exhibition history can be found in our photography reference library. To book a free appointment, please ask a member of staff or visit the Library page on our website.
