All shadows are alive gathers fragments from nostalgia forums on social media to chart the decline of public wash houses in Glasgow locally known as steamies. Calling on Edwin Morgan’s poem Glasgow Green, it thinks about the way women of the steamie embodied the underside of Glasgow: as lapsed souls, tenants of public space, and enduring witnesses to the working-class city.
