Tutor: Brittonie Fletcher

In the reversal process, we use RA4 paper to shoot directly in the camera and then reverse process it. The print yielded is a one-of-a-kind print with the experience likened to processing a Wet Plate Collodion Tin Type, but with the colour dreaminess of old Polaroid emulsions – sure to be a hit with analogue photography enthusiasts from many backgrounds!

Day 1
We will begin by discussing the differences between paper negatives and positives and outlining the process of reversal – what happens and why. We will be working with one type of lighting for these exposures. Next, we will set up our working space and materials, followed by a demonstration by the tutor on exposure and processing.
Following this demonstration, students will expose and make their first colour reversal prints.

Day 2

In this session, we will work on troubleshooting any steps before proceeding with ways to increase speed, colour balance and exposure for different lighting conditions.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • Learned more about Analogue Colour Photography
  • Learned to expose and reversal process RA4 paper in large format cameras
  • Learned basics of how to adjust for different lighting conditions and why
  • Produced several unique colour prints to take home
  • A complete set of notes for you to continue working on your own
